After many years of building only model cars,
we -Iggy & Seb- realized that
we wanted to do something new, something different!


We started to build car related dioramas
to give a new twist to our good old "model car" hobby.


At some point our friends and friends of our friends started asking us about our projects.
We started writing emails to them including pictures and explanations of how we make our models.
Somehow the hobby got out of hands and has become what you today know as "ModelJunkyard".

Those of you who already know us, know that we have more in common than only our parents! We share a great passion for everything that is somehow related to classic cars. From real cars to tiny matchboxs cars, and everything in between auch as automotive art, memorabilia, rock&roll, junkyards and stylish car related "googie" architecture.


The consequences of boredom...

When you are bored you have two options, you stay bored or you start trying new things to get the fun and the passion back.

We chose the second option. We started trying out many new things, especially scratch building projects. It's more of a challenge and the cool thing about it is that you are creating something completely new.


Scratch building...

We quickly realized that scratch building demands lots of patience as you not only have to build your model from scratch, but -if you want to do things right- you'll also have to draw plans in scale, choose the right materials, try different techniques until you reach your desired result, etc.

Making things easier...

After doing a few projects we noticed that more than 50% of the time, we spent "getting ready" to start with a project. That's tedious and -as I said- you have to have lots of patience. For example, it took me weeks to design the "Old Barn" before I could start cutting the first wood profile! And that after many years of model building experience!

I understood why many of my friends would gave up before finishing the design of their diorama. Having everything "ready to go" would save hobby enthousiasts like you lots of time. You can start building what you want, and straight away if you don't have to develop the whole thing by yourself!!
